Michele’s Story

Born to non-Christian parents in Zambia, Africa, Michele grew up in the neighboring country of Zimbabwe. It was there that she met her husband-to-be, Colin, and the couple were married in 1983. During their first year of marriage, Michele and Colin relocated to Botswana, another nation in southern Africa. It was there—after living a life far from God—that they both became totally committed followers of Jesus. During their 16 years in Botswana, the Telfers frequently went on Safari, often traveling by themselves through vast tracts of wilderness.

Michele first began teaching the Bible in Botswana, with invitations to teach coming one after the other, often in unusual ways. When she and Colin moved to the U.S. in 1999, the Lord opened up new opportunities in their new homeland (the Telfers subsequently became U.S. citizens). Within a few years, Michele was teaching multiple groups every week to hundreds of eager students of the Word in Southern California. Invitations started to come in from around the globe, leading to speaking engagements in places across Africa, Australia, Canada, the U.K., and other parts of the U.S. Michele still presents weekly Bible classes to large groups at her home church, in addition to engagements across America and around the world.

Michele is not only a gifted Bible teacher; she is also a captivating storyteller who relates her wide variety of experiences to communicate deep spiritual truths. All of us face hardships and disappointments in life, but Michele is convinced that God uses these difficulties to draw us closer to Him and make us more like Jesus. After a years-long battle with infertility, she is the mother of two grown children.

Animated, insightful and engaging, Michele Telfer will make God’s truth come alive for you in memorable ways.

In The Word

In The Word, presented by Michele Telfer Ministries, is devoted to communicating the two greatest realities of all—the Living Word of God, Jesus Christ, and the Written Word of God, the Bible. To us, “In The Word” means being in Him, and being in His Truth. All resources published and distributed by In The Word are designed to guide and encourage students as they “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 3:18).
