Lesson 2 - The King Identified

Matthew 3:1 — 4:25. From the somewhat quiet and hidden birth of the Promised King, Matthew moved immediately into Jesus’ public ministry. He recounted John the Baptist’s call to repentance and baptism. He recorded Christ’s obedience to that call and the thunderous affirmation from Heaven that He was indeed the Son of God. He followed Christ as He was tempted in the wilderness, called His first disciples and preached His message throughout Galilee. Christ was joyfully received by many and fiercely rejected by others from the very beginning. And that division would only grow.
